Today I went back to the slots at a Vegas Tech casino, and tried out a game called “American Icon.” It is a rock star wanna-be themed game, modeled obviously after a popular network TV show. The max bet is $10 with a minimum of $0.01, allowing for total max/min bets of $200 and $0.20, respectively. The music was pretty interesting, but it got a little annoying after awhile, and the graphics were very busy, but it was very colorful, which is a plus for me, but the hefty graphics on the icons seemed to slow the game down a bit. The game structure is a 5-reel 20-line slot which advertises a “Guaranteed Win” bonus round, which I was never able to trigger. There is, however, a secondary bonus which when triggered starts a slate of 15 free spins, during which all winnings are doubled. I only triggered this free spin bonus after about 10 minutes of gameplay and $2900 in the red. I ended up playing for a total of about 20 minutes, and most of that was spent losing. I blew through my initial $3000 of funny money pretty rapidly, playing somewhat conservatively. Then I decided just to play until I triggered the bonus, which I never did, and wound up playing right through another $3000. So I guess you could say I finished the game down $6000, not to promising if you ask me. I’m going to have to say I didn’t really like this game from the start. The aesthetics made me want to close it and move on, and then the long losing streaks just made it ridiculous. Avoid this game unless you really want to give it a try, maybe your luck is better than mine tonight.
