Today I ventured into a Rival casino and tried out a specialty game called “Sudoku Box Game.” I like sudoku’s so I was hoping for a clever twist on the gametype, and was curious to see how it could me made into a betting game. The game was met with mixed feelings. I was excited to see the game very similar to the real game; the premise is to get the numbers 1-9 in the 9-box grid with no repeats. There is only one grid, which spins the numbers in each box much like a slot game. Basically this game was a glorified slot machine with 9 reels and 1 payline….blah.

The aesthetics were pretty good though; they were a bit of the saving grace and kept me playing for 10 minutes instead of 2 minutes. There is little music but the effects on a win are a nice touch. The theme is clearly Asian inspired, which is fitting, and the board is nice and big, with nice graphics. This does have a bit of a drawback being that the game can get laggy at times, which is really annoying. The minimum bet is $0.01 and the max is $2.00 per coin, with a 5 coin maximum, so the max bet is only $10.00, small change in the world of gambling. I played max bets the entire time I played, and although the wins were pretty consistent and frequent, they were often of the 1x multiplier variety and lost quickly. I only played for ~10 minutes and went from $2000 to $1750.

The payouts are based on number of matching numbers, with payout for 3 matches or more, ranging in multipliers from 1x for 3 matches, to 1000x for 9 matches. If you manage to roll on all 9 digits (1-9) with no repeats, you hit the minor jackpot, which pays out 500, and hitting all 9 digits in order will net you 50,000. The jackpots are only active on 5 coin spin max bets.

I wouldn’t waste my time on this game. It was fun for about 5 seconds, then the novelty wore off, and I got tired of the lagging. If you feel a wild streak for something very different, but strangely familiar…try this dolled-up slots game, otherwise, don’t bother.
