Well today I hit another real winner, this time at a Microgaming casino, with a game called “Quest for Beer.” I mean, how could I go wrong here…what could possibly be bad about this game, aside from crappy payouts and long strings of zilcho.
So, first of all, I waited a grand total of 26 minutes for the game to download and load…that was agonizing. Once I got into the game I was optimistic. It was a Viking themed game, centering around beer, Vikings, and debauchery. It’s a standard 5×25 video slot game, with 10 coins per reel, at $0.01-$0.25 per coin, for a grand total of $125 on the max bet, my betting style of choice. I started strong, with some pretty decent wins, and I hit a free spin early. This feature is hit when three beer steins appear in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th reels, and gives you 10 free spins. It wasn’t long though, that I was on a $7000 skid to losing all my winnings and then some, to go $4000 down overall. It was a long string of goose-egg winnings coupled with a couple of wins >$100. Eventually I was saved by hitting the other scatter bonus, triggered by three maids anywhere on the slot. This bonus game gave you 5 kegs, and 3 axes. You throw the axe at a keg for prizes until you hit an empty keg, or use all three axes. This win took me back to ~$500 down, and it was a little fun.
The game overall was enjoyable, it was easy on the eyes, and a fun concept, but the payouts were so sparse that as fun as the game was, losing all the time will make anyone want to quit in a heartbeat. Maybe I was just having a bout of bad luck tonight (the casino does claim a 96.48% payout on its video slots). In any case, the game was entertaining, and a solid play, with very nice features.
