New Internet Safety Software coming to the United States?
Both groups that are against gambling and politicians have been arguing for many years that online gambling is very dangerous because underage gamblers are put at risk. Children can visit any Internet gambling website and play under the accounts of their parents or ones they have opened themselves, which was the main argument.
This point may now be moot because of Internetsafety.com. This online group has created the very first computer program that blocks Internet gambling. When it comes to technology dealing with web filtering, Internetsafety.com is one of the leading groups in the world.
The new program is called BetStopper, which is a free application that is currently only being offered to families in Nova Scotia through the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation. Nova Scotia has had their problems with underage gambling, as they have a higher rate of children gambling then adults gambling. Because of this the new software could not have come at a better time. It remains to be seen if the software will be used in America in order to block U.S. residents from gambling online.
Forrest Collier, who is the CEO of Intersafety.com, recently stated, “In ten years of specializing in helping parents shield their children from the unsavory side of the Internet, this is the first time we have been asked to create a project specifically to address underage gambling.”
The BetStopper software allows parents to set specific days and times that their kids can use the Internet. This comes from the SafeEyes software that is available from Internetsafety.com. BetStopper software goes even further in terms of protection, as the software checks specifically requested websites that are blacklisted. The list of blacklisted sites is updated often.
The new Internet safety software is a thorn in the side of lawmakers that have relied on the issue of underage gambling to aid in them being successful in their fight against Internet gambling becoming legal in the United States. There is now available software that can help prevent children from gambling online many jurisdictions may go forward to try to repeal the ban on online gambling and make it legal.
The United States is one of the countries where lawmakers have been arguing for years about the online gambling issue. It is thought that that America is the biggest Internet gambling market in the world even though it is the case that the U.S. government has made gambling online a criminal act.
